Lady Hawk - The E's are now turning two weeks old and will be hitting new milestones! At the start of the video, E20 is on top and E19 below sleeping peacefully together - and no bonking today! Their soft gray down is being replaced by their second coat of darker gray thermal down. In the upcoming week we will start to see the juvenile contour feathers emerging on the very tip of the wings! Their beige talons are starting to darken and clown feet are emerging! At 5:48 E20 is on the left, E19 on the right. The E's look so precious sleeping together! At 7:44 closeups of E20 - notice E20 is panting to cool off due to the warm weather in FL. At 9:22 E20's tongue barbs are clearly seen. The tongue of a bald eagle is extremely sensitive and filled with tactile sensory corpuscles. Notice the backward facing tongue barbs (also called "rear directed papillae" ) which aid in the swallowing of food. The eaglets weigh just over two pounds and they are seen scooting around the nest on their hocks and hanging out close to the rails looking at the world below them! E20 is on the left (E19 on the right) at the rails as they both are trying to cool off and will follow Dad to go under him for shade. Thank you for watching! Video captured & edited by Lady Hawk Thank you SWFEC , hosted by Dick Pritchett Real Estate, for allowing us the opportunity to view these amazing eagles.
